The best 124 Science Fiction & Fantasy books EVA! From the Guardian
Apparently this is a new blog ‘meme’ that I read about on OF Blog of the Fallen. Below is the 124 science fiction and fantasy books that the Guardian chose for their Best 1000 Novels feature. It’s an odd list, and most of the books on there I have read, I wouldn’t really consider science fiction or fantasy, but there you go.
The idea is that you should go through the list and bold everyone you’re read. I’ve taken a hit from This Book and I Could Be Friends and italicised the ones I really want to read.

That site’s a bit weird – If you look at the Guardian site, the list we published is correct – no Tolkein or LeGuin. No idea where the everything is nice site got their list.
Edit: Actually, I figured it out. They’ve added in the books from the extra lists that they’ve done – Moorcock on dystopias and Suzanna Clarke on imagined worlds amongst others. They’re not part of the original list so I’ll leave them out, especially as one of them is the best JG Ballard novels, which will up him representation severely! Cool columns though!

They aren’t extra lists, they are part of the “original” list. Admittedly the way the Guardian have translated it from print to screen makes this unclear but a clue is that if you divide 1000 by seven (the number of roughly equal supplements) you get 143. Besides, can you really imagine them leaving off Nineteen Eighty-four or Tolkein?
