More Fallout
Sophie beat me to the punch with her Fallout post, but here’s a bit more.
Shacknews interview with Bethesda’s marketing vice-president about Fallout: New Vegas.
Also, the next lot of DLC for Fallout 3 comes out on May 5. Kotaku has a whole bunch of info on it.
I still haven’t finished Fallout 3 but have decided to get back on the main quest so expect some more reactions soon! Once I finish the main game then I’m planning to get all three DLC packs as well.
More cool links
Two cool links for today – one comic related and one golden oldie PC game related:
- This is all over the net by now, but it’s still pretty cool – a Peanuts/Sin City mashup. Make sure to cliuck through for the second page.
- Gamers With Jobs have posted a wonderful tribute to the original Wing Commander games. I spent so many hours playing these things as a kid – it’s great to bring back the memories!
Dragon Age delayed
I haven’t done a things I’m looking forward to in 2009 post like Sophie, but if I did Dragon Age would be on it. It’s the new Bioware PC RPG which they describe as “the spiritual heir to Baldur’s Gate.” Unfortunately, it seems like I’ll be waiting a little bit longer.
Age of Decadence
It’s been a long time since there was a PC RPG that really could live up to the name, and the glory days of games like Planescape: Torment and the first two Fallout games seem long gone. These games were too long, too complex, too text heavy and too plot focused to work in the 10 hour playtime, first person shooter world of today.
Add in rampant piracy of PC games, the dominance of consoles and it doesn’t seem like we’re likely ever to see another game in this style. Or so I thought.
But thanks to the irreverant British PC gaming site Rock, Paper, Shotgun, I’ve heard a little bit about the indie PC RPG scene and, in particular, about the upcomming indie RPG Age of Decadence. RPS has just run it’s second interview with lead Age of Decadence designerVince D. Weller. It’s not as outrageous as the first interview, run last year, but he still says that Balder’s Gate II wasn’t actually a roleplaying game.
Fallout 3
I love the Fallout series. I have played through Fallout and Fallout 2 a number of times and always enjoy it. I was nervous (in a way only a fangirl can be) when I heard that Fallout 3 was finally going to see the light of day, made by the same people as Oblivion. › Continue reading
